In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a resident of Dutchess County, New York.
  2. Must be of Native American heritage.
  3. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.

Application requirements for the Marjorie A. Rifenburg Scholarship are:

Additional Information: This scholarship is offered each year to individuals of Native American descent who are also residents of Dutchess County, New York.

Award Amount: $4,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
