Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a current 5th-8th grade student.
  3. Must be of Norwegian ancestry.
  4. Must be a resident of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Kendall, McHenry, or Will counties in Illinois.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This cash award is available for students in grades 5-8 who are of Norwegian ancestry and reside in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Kendall, McHenry, or Will counties in Illinois. Students must write an essay on any topic regarding Norway.

Additional Information: The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage the study of Norwegian heritage. Winners are announced in May at the Norwegian Constitution Day Parade. The parade is held at Hodges Park in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Award Amount: $50 cash award.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $50.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in December of 2019 for updated information about the 2020 scholarship prorgram. Applications are available online on the Norwegian National League of Chicago website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit an essay of 300 words or more on any topic regarding Norway. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline date. Please note: Application materials may not be sent via certified mail.
