Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 84 or higher on a scale of 100 (2.67 or higher on a 4.0 scale).
  3. Must be attending Scarborough High School in Scarborough, Maine.
  4. Must be a female.
  5. Must have demonstrated athletic ability and/or demonstrated passion for a non-competitve sport, such as mountain climbing or horseback riding.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. Must have a demonstrated interest in community service.
  8. Must be a graduating high school senior at time of application.

Description: Female high school seniors who attend Scarborough High School in Scarborough, Maine, are eligible for this scholarsip. Students must have a grade point average of at least 84 on a 100-point scale, and be involved in athletics and community service.

Additional Information: This award is in memory of Stephanie Bernath, a Scarborough High School alumna who died in a tragic car accident in 1999.

Award Amount: Up to $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Information about this scholarship is available online on the Maine Community Foundation website by clicking on the link for Cumberland County, and applications can be obtained by contacting the Scarborough High School guidance office. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a copy of her most recent high school or college transcript; a copy of her college financial aid offer (if it has been received at time of application); and a personal statement of 500 words or less describing her aspirations, how her educational plans relate to them, and any personal or family circumstances that make her particularly eligible for this scholarship. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline date.
