Description: The Ruth L. Brocklebank Memorial Scholarship Fund is available for African American students who have graduated from a public school in Springfield, MA.

Additional Information: Provided annually in memory of Ruth L. Brocklebank, this scholarship is awarded each year through the administration and management of the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be of African American heritage and must be graduates of a public high school in Springfield, Massachusetts. Award selection will be based on a combination of academic achievement, unmet financial need, as well as participation in community events and extracurricular activities. Students who submit a scholarship application through the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts scholarship system will be automatically considered for all awards they are eligible for. Multiple applications to multiple programs is not required.

Award Amount: Scholarships are typically awarded in the amount of $1,000 and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications for the Ruth L. Brocklebank Memorial Scholarship Fund are available and accepted between January 1 and March 31. To apply for this scholarship, students must complete the online application at the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts website. Completed application forms will also require students to submit a recent copy of transcripts as well as their current year Student Aid Report. The Student Aid report is obtained when the student completes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All applications must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
