Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies. Approximately five scholarships are awarded each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must show the need for scholarship assistance to cover educational and related personal expenses, and have the intent and possibility for completion of the course of study.
  2. Must be majoring in religion of theological studies.
  3. Must be committed to pursuing studies leading to the BA or BS degree and a M.Div., D.Min., and PhD or other first seminary degree from an accredited seminary.
  4. Must be active members of an American Baptist church for at least one year.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must be a full-time enrollee in an accredited institution in the fall of the application year in a accredited institution in the United States or Puerto Rico.

Description: This scholarship is available for active members of an American Baptist church for at least one year, preparing to enter an accredited institution in the United States or Puerto Rico as a full-time enrollee in an accredited institution in the fall of the application year and must be a U.S. citizen.

Application requirements for the Spanish American Baptist Seminary Scholarship Fund are:

Additional Information: American Baptist Home Mission Societies aims to change and heal the world by spreading the Gospel. ABHMS administers the American Baptist Financial Aid Program that supports college students, graduate students, and seminarians. Applicants must be active members of an American Baptist church for at least one year, preparing to enter an accredited institution in the United States or Puerto Rico as a full-time enrollee in an accredited institution in the fall of the application year and must be a U.S. citizen. Award Amount: Grants range from $500-$3,000. They are for American Baptist students of Hispanic origin who now serve or will be serving in a church with American Baptist Churches, USA, or with its recognized institutions. Provided they maintain eligibility requirements, recipients may re-apply for scholarships in the following academic year. Recipients may receive scholarship funds for no more than 4 years for undergraduates and no more than 3 years for graduates/seminarians/Ph.D. These scholarships may not be combined with other funding provided by ABHMS.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applicants fill out and submit a form on the provider website. They must provide two endorsements. One form must be completed by the pastor of the church. The other must be completed by regional or denominational leader.
