Number of Awards & Eligibility: One or more scholarships (of about $5000/year), co-payable to the student and institution will be awarded each year. Generally, this annual award is divided into two installments- half for fall, half for spring- and is renewable for up to four years, assuming proper academic progress (2.5 or higher GPA) is maintained.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  2. Must be residents of St. Louis County.
  3. Must have a family Adjusted Gross Income less than $75,000.
  4. Must be of Jewish or Roman Catholic faith.

Description: The Bernard and Mary Brusin Scholarship recognized the importance of higher education and had a strong commitment to provide financial assistance to those in need. Respective of their Jewish and Roman Catholic faiths, the Brusins designated that their scholarship be made available to Jewish and Roman Catholic students. Mary Brusin died in 1981. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard in 1977. Bernard B. Brusin and Mary L. Brusin Scholarship Fund, established as a memorial, provides renewable scholarships to Jewish and Roman Catholic students for college or vocational training.

  • Official Transcript.
Additional Information: The Bernard B. Brusin and Mary L. Brusin Scholarship Fund is available for graduating seniors who are residents of St. Louis County. Applicants must prescribe to either the Jewish or Roman Catholic faiths to be eligible for this scholarship. Graduating seniors who are residents of St. Louis County, have a family Adjusted Gross Income less than $75,000, have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher and prescribe to either the Jewish or Roman Catholic faiths may apply. The Scholarship Committee of the Community Foundation will select individual scholarship recipients. They will base their decision on the applicant’s financial need, academic record, written recommendations and seriousness of purpose.

Award Amount: The grant value is up to $5,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Students should complete and submit in the DSACF Common Application by the deadline day. A complete application will also include an academic transcript (including standardized test scores), recommendations and financial need documentation. The application will also include a short statement of faith from all applicants. All applications must be submmitted electronically.
