In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be an African-American, Hispanic-American, or Native-American.
  4. Must attend one of the following consortium-member schools: University of California Berkeley, University of California Los Angeles, Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Emory University, Georgetown University, Indiana University-Bloomington, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, New York University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Rochester, University of Southern California, University of Texas at Austin, University of Virginia, Washington University in Saint Louis, University of Wisconsin-Madison, or Yale University.
  5. Must be planning to pursue a managerial career in business, government, or non-profit organizations.
  6. Must be a full-time student.
  7. Must have a bachelor's degree in any academic discipline from an accredited institution recognized by consortium-member schools.

Description: Students with a bachelor's degree who are planning to pursue a graduate degree full time at one of the Consortium-member schools are eligible for this award. Students must be African-American, Hispanic-American or Native-American and be planning to pursue a managerial career in business, government or non-profit organizations.

Additional Information: The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management is an alliance of business schools in partnership with corporate America, working to facilitate the entry of minorities into managerial positions in business. Each applicant is required to interview with a Consortium representative from one of the member schools. He/she may contact any one of the member schools, preferably no later than Dec. 16, to schedule the official Consortium interview. Contact information for each school can be found on the Consortium website.

Award Amount: Each award is a two-year, full-time fellowship, which covers tuition and required fees for a total of two years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available online from the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management (CGSM) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: two professional letters of recommendation from individuals who can comment on his/her performance in a work environment; one mission support letter of recommendation from an objective third party who can comment on his/her demonstrated support of the Consortium's mission; an official transcript from all colleges or universities attended; official GMAT scores sent by the Educational Testing Service directly to the Consortium; and a resume. Please note: Letters of recommendation must be sent using the Consortium's online forms. There is a processing fee for the consortium application; the fee varies based on the number of school for which the student wishes to apply (there are 17 Consortium member schools). Fees are as follows: $150 to apply to one or two schools, $200 to three schools, $240 to apply to four schools, $275 to apply to five schools, or $300 to apply to six schools. The fee must be paid in full before the application can be processed. If the student's choice(s) of schools include the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he/she must also apply directly to the school using the Kenan Flager Graduate School of Business application by Jan. 15. Deadlines for submitting the application are Oct. 15 and Jan. 5.
