In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be 21 years of age at the time of application or older.
  2. Must be enrolled in the first year of a Graduate program at an accredited HBCU.
  3. Must have a minimum 3.25 GPA.
  4. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
  5. Must not currently employed in a full-time position.

Description: The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) in partnership with Hennessy offers the Hennessy Fellows Program for high achieving graduate students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).

Application requirements for the Hennessy Fellows are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter

  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: The Hennessy Fellows Program includes the following benefits and activities: • $20,000 scholarship per academic year • $10,000 stipend for other educational expenses • Curated professional development such as an immersive Boot Camp, online training forums, workshops, and networking with c-suite executives • Development of leadership skills via professional advancement opportunities and experiences • 1:1 career coaching and senior executive mentorship • Up to $10,000 grant to implement a community “give back” project designed by the fellow • A bridge between textbook knowledge and real-world skill application • Paid expenses for all approved program-related travel

Award Amount: A scholarship up to $20,000 per academic year for up to two years and a one time $10,000 stipend is offered.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $50,000.
