Number of Awards & Eligibility: Eight awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be an ethnic minority.
  4. Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program and have at least one semester left in school.
  5. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate accounting, finance, or related business degree program or a master's level business program. The student must have completed three or more hours of accounting classes.
  6. Must be a NABA student member in good standing whose membership dues have been received by NABA's National Office no later than Dec. 31.
  7. Must be a Georgia resident OR enrolled in an eligible program at a college/university in Georgia.
  8. Must be enrolled full time (12 or more semester hours if an undergraduate student or 9 or more semester hours if a graduate student).
  9. Must have an overall grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. undergraduate and graduate ethnic minority students who are pursuing an undergraduate accounting, finance, or related business degree or master's-level business degree at a Georgia college/university or are Georgia residents. Applicants must be student members of NABA and have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.

Additional Information: The NABA Atlanta Chapter provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate minority students majoring in accounting, finance, and business who have demonstrated academic and leadership excellence. Awards will be announced on March 17. Scholarship recipients must attend the NABA Atlanta Chapter Eddie Nesby Jr. Scholarship and Awards Celebration, which will be held in April/May, and will be notified in advance regarding seating and guests.

Award Amount: $500 to $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,250.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in December for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) website. As part of the online application, each student must provide an essay of 500 words or less responding to one of the two prompts listed on the application. Each student must also provide contact information for a reference who will provide a letter of recommendation (either a member of the accounting/business faculty at his/her college/university or from a non-relative who is familiar with his/her academic and/or professional performance). Each student must also upload his/her resume and student/permanent resident visa (if applicable). Each student must also submit an official academic transcript (current through the fall 2015 semester) via mail to the address provided. Student or unofficial copies will not be accepted. All application materials must be submitted by the deadline date.
