Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 100 awards are provided each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior who will be enrolled in an undergraduate program during the upcoming fall semester.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be African American.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The UNCF STEM Scholars Program academic support for African American high school students who aspire to earn STEM degrees and to pursue careers in STEM fields. African American high school seniors who are accepted to and planning to enroll in an undergraduate STEM program are eligible. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.

Application requirements for the UNCF STEM Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The program enables highly capable young people to pursue undergraduate STEM majors and prepares them for successful careers in a variety of STEM professions. The application is open for high school seniors who are entering college as first-time freshmen in fall 2020. To be eligible, students must have unmet financial need as verified by their college or university.

Award Amount: The award amount varies depending on the student's financial need. Freshman and sophomore year awards may be up to $2,500 and upperclass awards may be up to $5,000. A student is eligible to receive up to $25,000 in total funding through this program.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $25,000.

Applications are available online on the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) website.Along with the submission of the online application, students must include one letter of recommendation from a faculty member and complete a one-page personal statement of career interests. The student's most recently completed, official transcript should be uploaded to the application.Applications close at 11:59 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
