Description: The Dorothy Prewitt Pohlman and AAUW Scholarship is available for women who are graduating from Wenatchee Valley College and planning to pursue a four-year degree at another college or university in Washington state.

Additional Information: Sponsored by the American Association of University Women and offered in memory & recognition of Dorothy Prewitt Pohlman, this scholarship will be awarded each year to a women who is graduating (or previously graduated) with a 60 credit hours from Wenatchee Valley College. Applicants must plan to pursue a bachelor's degree at any four-year college or university within the state of Washington. Award selection will be based on a combination of academic achievements and unmet financial need. All scholarship recipients will be notified in early May and will be required to provide additional documentation such as a signed scholarship agreement and verification of enrollment.

Award Amount: $1,800 annually. Scholarships are not automatically renewable, but previous recipients are eligible to apply for funding in future years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,800.

The Dorothy Prewitt Pohlman and AAUW Scholarship has closed for 2019 but is expected to be offered again in 2020. Please check back in January of 2020 when applications will become available. Applications for the Dorothy Prewitt Pohlman and AAUW Scholarship must be completed online at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington website. To apply, students must first create an online account with the community foundation's application portal and complete the eligibility quiz. Students will then be able to access the individual applications for any scholarships they are eligible through the foundation. Applicants are encouraged to gather the following materials prior to beginning the application: their expected family contribution (EFC) from their Student Aid Report (SAR); transcripts from their current educational institution; email addresses for two individuals who will provide a recommendation for the applicant; and a list of activities, awards, and honors the student has received. The Student Aid Report is obtained by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the student's current-year FAFSA must be completed at the time of application. Students may apply to multiple scholarships they are eligible through the foundation application portal by clicking on "copy answers." Students are also advised to pay close attention to any specific short answers, essays, or other supplemental materials required for each specific scholarship's application. All submissions must be completed online by the deadline date. Any late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
