Number of Awards & Eligibility: The numbers of awards provided annually varies on the availability of funding and the number of applications that fulfill the mission of the 1,000 Dreams Scholarship Fund.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a woman.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must demonstrate financial need.

Description: The 1,000 Dreams Scholarship Fund is available for undergraduate women in the U.S. who wish to pursue educational or artistic lessons, activities, or projects beyond the typical academic curriculum.

Application requirements for the 1,000 Dreams Fund for College Students are:

  • Personal statement
Additional Information: The 1,000 Dreams Scholarship Fund is provided annually to college enrolled women in the United States who are actively involved in extracurricular and academic activities that may incur costs beyond tuition. Potential uses of scholarship funds may include but are not limited to: academic and career related conference travel; lessons, programs and clinics for creative or artistic activities; exam and graduate school application fees; or other projects related to academic and artistic development that incur costs other than college tuition. Administration and management of this scholarship is provided by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Since its founding in 1978, the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation has strived to improve the community by providing centralized resources for decentralized charitable efforts.

Award Amount: Students chosen to receive this scholarship will receive $1,000 that may be spent on extra-curricular or academic pursuits that go beyond a typical academic program such as, but not limited to: conference expenses; additional lessons or programs; or exam fees.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and additional information about this award are available online at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation website. To apply for the 1,000 Dreams Scholarship, applicants must submit a completed online application and responses to all supplemental questions, including: a description of how the applicant would use the funding from this scholarship; what educational or extracurricular goals would be achieved; how these achievements could further assist women with similar aspirations; and two letters of recommendation. All applications and supporting materials must be received online no later than the deadline date.
