Number of Awards & Eligibility: 15 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be currently enrolled in college. Any level of study is acceptable as long as the student is in a degree-seeking program.
  3. Must be studying in a medical, dental, nursing, public health, or policy program. Pre-health professions students are not eligible.
  4. Must be enrolled full time.
  5. Must be of Hispanic descent or be strongly committed to the Hispanic community.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to students who are studying in a medical, dental, nursing, public health, or policy program, and are of Hispanic descent or display strong commitment to the health of the Hispanic community.

Additional Information: The National Hispanic Health Foundation, affiliated with the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University, will award to New York, New Jersey & California dental, medical, nursing, public health and policy students who exhibit exceptional academic performance, leadership and commitment to their Hispanic communities. The scholarships will be presented to the New York and New Jersey awardees at the Fifth Annual NHHF New York Scholarship Gala at a location and on a date TBA and to the California awardees at the Second Annual NHHF California Scholarship Gala at a location and on a date TBA.

Award Amount: Fifteen students will receive $5,000   The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online on the National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following: a double-spaced personal statement of two pages or less that includes career goals; a current curriculum vitae (education, employment, and extracurricular activities); a letter of recommendation; and an unofficial copy of school transcripts. All materials must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
