Description: The Benson Law Firm Scholarship Contest is available for accepted and enrolled college students who submit an original essay or video on the topic of bankruptcy law and small business.

  • Essay or Video submission
Additional Information: In providing the Benson Law Firm Scholarship Contest, the Benson Law Firm hopes to accomplish three things: inspire students to study law; encourage students to think about the role of bankruptcy laws in the economy; and assist one student financially with the costs of higher education. Award selection will be based largely on the quality of videos and/or essays received. Particular attention will be paid to those submissions that demonstrate deep thought about bankruptcy law as a positive aspect to doing business in the United States. One winner will be selected and notified in late August. The winner's name and work may be published publicly on the provider website as well as any participating media outlets. Applicants who do not wish to be publicly identified must notify the sponsor in writing.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Application instructions and additional information about the Benson Law Firm Scholarship Contest is available using the provided links. To apply for this scholarship, students may choose between submitting an original video or essay. All submissions must focus on the role of bankruptcy laws in protecting and assisting small businesses in the United States. Video submissions must be between one and two minutes in length and published publicly to Youtube. Videos must also be submitted to the Benson Law Facebook page and shared on the student's personal Facebook page. Students choosing the essay option must write an original response of between 1,000 and 1,500 words in length and submit their writing to the provided email address. All submissions must be received no later than the deadline date.
