Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four or more awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Applicants must be first-generation U.S. citizens, refugees, or immigrants (legal documentation is not required).
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  5. Must enroll full time in a two- or four-year degree program.
  6. Must plan to attend an accredited public, private, or technical college or university in the state of North Carolina.
  7. Must be a resident of Wake County, North Carolina and have completed at least one academic year at a high school in Wake County.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: First-generation U.S. citizens, refugees, or immigrants who are residents of Wake County in North Carolina and have completed one or more academic years at a Wake County high school are eligible for this award. The student must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and enroll full time at a postsecondary institution in North Carolina.

Application requirements for the Achievement Scholarship Fund for Refugees and Immigrants in Wake County are:

  • Recommendation letter (2)
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Tax Return
Additional Information: The goal of this scholarship to support these students on a pathway to finding meaningful employment and becoming contributory members of their communities and adopted country.

Award Amount: $1,000 to $4,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years as long as the student maintains a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and submits a report each semester.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online from the Triangle Community Foundation website. The student must create a new account to access the online application. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit transcripts, the email address of two recommenders, the first two pages of the last filed tax return, and respond to any additional questions. Transcripts must be postmarked by the deadline date. Applications must be submitted online by the deadline date.
