In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
  3. Must plan to enroll on a full time basis.
  4. Must be currently enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university. Graduate and undergaduate students of all majors, other than law, are eligible for this award.
  5. Must have bilateral hearing loss in the moderately-severe to profound range.

Description: This award is available for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students with pre-lingual, bi-lateral hearing loss that is classified as moderate to severe. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher and plan to enroll full time in an accredited college or university.

Additional Information: Thanks to generous donations from individuals over the years, AG Bell is able to offer several scholarships for full-time students who have a pre-lingual bilateral hearing loss in the moderately-severe to profound range, use listening and spoken language, and who are pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate (not law or public policy) degree at an accredited mainstream college or university. This is a merit-based scholarship program and award selection is extremely competitive; over the past six years approximately 12% of applicants were selected to receive an award.

Award Amount: $2,500 to $10,000 annually, non-renewable. Students who remain eligible in future years may apply again, but one individual may not receive more than two awards from the foundation.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available online from the Alexander Graham Bell Association (AGBA) website or via email. Telephone requests for applications are not accepted. Only those individuals who do not have access to the internet should request an application in writing via the U.S. Postal Service. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted by the deadline.
