Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually and is dependent on funding and the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior planning to enroll as a freshman.
  3. Must be a resident of Arizona.
  4. Must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement through a competitive grade point average, high school courses taken and test scores.
  5. Must enroll full time.
  6. Must plan to attend Arizona State University.
  7. This award is for U.S. students.
  8. Must graduate from an Arizona high school.
  9. Must plan to attend a college or university in Arizona.

Additional Information: ASU is committed to helping a greater number of academically qualified students graduate than ever. The New American University Scholar awards are offered to outstanding freshmen as they pursue academic excellence at ASU. This program provides qualified students a monetary award and an environment focusing on knowledge, learning and research plus resources toward understanding and helping solve society's most pressing challenges. This scholarship was established by the Arizona Board of Regents to recognize Arizona high school students for outstanding academic achievement as demonstrated through high school courses and test scores. It is commonly referred to as the "AIMS" scholarship. Should students be selected for more than one institutional merit-based scholarship they will receive the scholarship of greater value. Please note that students may receive private donor scholarships in addition to the Regents High Honors Endorsement (AIMS) award.

Award Amount: 25% of ASU resident tuition, valued at approximately $2,539 annually, renewable for up to three years (fall and spring semesters) as long as the student maintains full-time enrollment, completes 24 credit hours each academic year and has a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,156.

Applications for admission are available online from the Arizona State University (ASU) website. The university prefers that applications be submitted online. There is not a separate application for this award. An eligible student will be considered upon admission. In addition to the completed admissions application, the student must submit a $50 application fee, ACT/SAT scores, and transcripts. Although applications are accepted on a rolling basis, for maximum consideration, students should apply by Jan. 15 for the fall semester, May 1 for the summer semester, or Dec. 1 for the spring semester.
