Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) by Nov. 1, and that membership must remain current through March. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.
  3. Must be pursuing a private pilot certificate or instrument rating. Flight training must be completed within one year of receiving scholarship.

Description: The Bunny M. Connors Memorial Scholarship is open to members of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) who plan to pursue a private pilot certificate or instrument rating. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.

Additional Information: Bunny M. Connors was a career respiratory therapist at several hospitals in the North Andover, Massachusetts, area. She later chose to pursue her lifelong dream of flying. She became a flight instructor, enthusiastically sharing her love of flying with her students. She went on to a commercial flying career with Bird Aviation and Cape Central Airways. All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded at the Annual International Women in Aviation Conference. Attendance at the conference is not required to receive a scholarship, but it is encouraged. Please note: Students may only receive one scholarship per year.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the Women in Aviation, International (WAI) website. A complete application packet must include three stapled sets of the following (one original and two copies): a completed application form; two recommendation letters of one page each; a 500-word typed, descriptive essay; a professional resume; and copies of all aviation licenses and medical certificates, and the last three pages of the applicant's pilot logbook, if applicable. Please note: The descriptive essay and resume should address the topics listed online at www.wai.org/education/guidelines.cfm. An international applicant must include a copy of the pilot and mechanic guidelines for his/her country and the equivalent copies of licenses and medical certificates with his/her application. A separate application packet must be submitted for each scholarship for which the student wishes to apply. Students may apply for a maximum of two scholarships per year. Application packets must be submitted online or sent to the address provided and be postmarked by the deadline date.
