Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund
Awards are available for up to $500 annually. Please note that part-time scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds. All awards are non-renewable. The student may reapply each semester he/she is attending school, but he/she must fill out an application for each semester an award is sought. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, utility bills, car maintenance, childcare, or any other financial need that contributes to the recipient's success in school.
The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year. Typically, the Craighead County Single Parent Scholarship Fund gives 12 scholarships per academic term for fall and spring, and 6 scholarships for summer.
Students must not have already earned a bachelor's degree with the exception of those pursuing a Masters of Arts in teaching. Finalists for the scholarship will be required to attend a scheduled interview. The interview schedule is as follows: for applications received by Jan. 30, the second week of February; for applications received by May 15, the fourth week of May; and for applications received by Aug. 30, the second week of September.
