$8,500 to $21,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years as long as the recipient enrolls full time each quarter, maintain a 2.7 grade point average and earn a minimum of 36 quarter hours annually, excluding summer sessions.
The number of awards offered varies annually and is dependent on the number of qualified applicants.
Recipients are required to declare and complete the community service studies academic minor, participate in at least 30 hours of community service each quarter, attend quarterly service learning/community engagement workshops, develop an electronic community service portfolio highlighting their experiences, and meet with the program coordinators for advising and mentoring throughout the duration of their commitment to the CSS program. To be considered, students must demonstrate an exceptional commitment to service and social engagement as exemplified by their previous service record, ability to integrate service with their academic and professional goals as well as convey a deep understanding of service and how it relates to community and larger social issues.
