Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Middletown, Ohio.
  2. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. Must demonstrate unmet financial need.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors in Middletown Ohio who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate unmet financial need.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established in memory of and in honor of Dorothy M. Brayton, a long-time Middletown resident, education advocate, and supporter of the Sorg Opera. Dorothy established a fund through her financial institution and the Middletown Community Foundation to allow seniors from Middletown High School and Bishop Fenwick High School to pursue furthering their education at a college, university, or other institution of higher learning. Award selection is based on academic achievement, community and academic involvement, and financial need.

Award Amount: $500 to $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

To be considered for this award, students must submit an online application form, including the personal information section, family information, and financial information. In addition, the student must also submit a copy of his/her most recent high school transcripts including SAT/ACT scores, and a resume detailing work experience and/or community service participation. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted online by the deadline date.
