Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be majoring in or planning to major in nursing.
  3. Must be a resident of Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam or Ulster counties in New York.
  4. Must be a high school senior or current undergraduate student at the time of application.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  6. Must attend a college or university in New York.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for residents of Mid-Hudson valley who are currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in a nursing degree program in the state of New York.

Additional Information: In honor of the memory of Eileen Hickey, this scholarship is provided annually by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce to assist a Mid-Hudson Valley resident who is pursuing a nursing degree at a college or university in New York.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of the Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
