Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 1,000 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must graduate from an accredited high school in the state of Texas.
  3. Must be the highest ranking graduate in his/her high school.
  4. Must attend a public college or university in Texas.
  5. Must be a graduating high school senior at time of application.

Description: This award is for Texas resident high school seniors who graduate as valedictorians from a Texas high school and are planning to enroll in a public Texas college or university.

Application requirements for the Exemption for Highest Ranking High School Graduate are:

  • Certificate of eligibility
Additional Information: The purpose of this program is to provide an award to students graduating in the top of their classes in high school. The student must use the exemption within a year of graduation unless granted an extension by the college president.

Award Amount: Exemption from the payment of tuition during both semesters of the first regular session immediately following the student's high school graduation. Fees are not covered.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,623.
