In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an incoming first year freshmen.
  2. Must be accepted to Hamline University.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must have a parent, grandparent, or sibling who is a Hamline alumnus.

Description: This award is for U.S. high school students who are planning to attend Hamline University in Minnesota. The student must have a parent, grandparent, or sibling who is a Hamline alumnus/a.

Application requirements for the Hamline University Heritage Award are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • SAT/ACT scores
Additional Information: Hamline University offers various scholarships to incoming students. The Hamline University Heritage Award is available to first year students whose parent, grandparent, or sibling is Hamline alumnus/a.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, renewable for three additional years provided the student maintains a satisfactory academic progress.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,000.

To apply, students must apply for admission to Hamline University (HU). No separate scholarship application is required. The Admission application is available from the college website. Students may download, print, and fill out a paper application, or apply online. Online applications are automatically sent to Hamline University's admission office. As part of the admissions application, the student must also submit at least on teacher recommendation, official high school transcripts, and ACT or SAT scores. Application and required materials must be submitted by December 1 for early action or by the priority deadline date of January 15. Applications submitted after Jan. 15 will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
