Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must study in the field of botany.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student or graduate student pursuing a master's degree at time of application.

Description: This award is available for undergraduate and graduate students in a master's degree program who intend to study field botany during the summer semester. Preference is given to undergraduates.

Application requirements for the Joan K. and Rachel M. Hunt Summer Scholarship in Field Botany are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: The purpose of the scholarship is to promote the awareness of the importance of botany to horticulture. It does not support research. The summer projects may be pursued beyond the regular course of study to gain additional knowledge and experience and may award credit. Study must be in any one of the 50 states of the U.S. Preference is given to undergraduates. The scholarship committee will meet in March; applicants will be notified shortly after the committee meets. Award Amount: $3,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,500.
