Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled full time.
  3. Must be a student member of the Marine Technology Society.
  4. Must be enrolled in a marine-related field.
  5. Must show a commitment to community service and/or volunteer activities.
  6. Must be currently enrolled at the undergraduate or graduate levels to apply for this award.

Description: This scholarship is available for undergraduate and graduate students who are members of the Marine Technology Society. Students must be enrolled full time in a marine-related field and be involved in community service and/or volunteer activities.

Additional Information: The Marine Technology Society (MTS) is dedicated to supporting marine education and students. To that end, the society offers annual scholarships for MTS (and some for non-MTS) students enrolled full time in an undergraduate or graduate program in a marine-related field.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online on the Marine Technology Society (MTS) website. As part of the completed application, the student must write an essay of 500 words or less that discusses his/her interest in marine technology, how his/her interest in marine technology relates to his/her current field of study, and how he/she plans to use his/her degree. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a written recommendation from a current teacher or counselor in a marine-related field; a written letter of reference from someone he/she knows who is not a teacher or counselor; and an official sealed transcript (may be sent separately by the school). One application may be used to apply for all MTS scholarships, except for the ROV Scholarship. The completed application form may be either completed online or emailed to the address provided. All additional materials must be submitted by email.
