Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund
Up to $500 per semester for the first year and up to $750 per semester for the second and following years, pending availability of funds. Scholarships are not automatically renewable; the student must apply for funding each year. The applicant may apply for the scholarship for a maximum of five years. If a recipient withdraws from all classes, he/she must wait one year before reapplying. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, fees, utility bills, car maintenance, childcare, etc.
The number of awards offered varies annually based on the number of qualified applicants. There are approximately 11 awards given each semester.
The student must be the recipient of a Pell Grant or be in the process of obtaining one. The Pell Grant is obtained by filing a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The student must need training in order to seek gainful employment. He/she cannot already have earned an undergraduate degree.
