In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  3. Must attend Beacon High School in Beacon, New York.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Description: This award is available for graduating high school seniors who reside in Beacon, New York. Students who are working to overcome financial, emotional, family, or other personal hardships will be given priority.

Application requirements for the Joseph S. Guarneri Sr. Memorial Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Established by the Guarneri family in memory of Joseph Guarneri, Sr., this scholarship is available annually for residents of Beacon New York who are currently graduating from high school and planning to attend college on a full-time basis. The scholarship is intended for students who have overcome or are overcoming personal, financial, family, or emotional difficulties and are applying themselves to their studies with a goal of improving themselves and their lives through education.

Award Amount: At least $650 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $650.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
