Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided each year the award is offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a graduating senior or previous graduate of a Ventura County high school.
  2. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: The Joyce M. Kennedy Ph.D. Scholarship Fund is available for graduating seniors and previous graduates of a Ventura County High School who are enrolled or planning to enroll at California State Univerity Channel Islands. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: The Joyce M. Kennedy Ph.D. Scholarship Fund is provided annually to Ventura County residents who are attending or planning to attend California State Univerity Channel Islands. Applicants must be graduating seniors at a Ventura County high school or previous graduates of a Ventura County high school, and must have a grade point average that demonstrates a high level of academic dedication. Scholarship recipients will be selected primarily on academic merits.

Award Amount: $1,500 is awarded annually. All awards are paid on a one-time basis and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications for the Joyce M. Kennedy Ph.D. Scholarship Fund are available online at the Ventura County Community Foundation website. To apply for an award, students must complete all sections of the online application form. Applicants must also submit an original essay in response to the award's topic, as well as two letters of recommendation. At least one letter of recommendation must be submitted by a current faculty member at the school the student is attending. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
