Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a high school senior or older for this undergraduate award.
  4. Must be a resident of Cedar Grove, West Virginia.
  5. Must pursue a field of study in education.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must be a full-time student (12 credit hours or more).
  8. Must have an ACT score of 20 or higher.
  9. Must attend a college or university in West Virginia.

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Tax return (cover page)
  • Financial form
Additional Information: The student may apply for two scholarships but will only be selected as a recipient for one of the awards. The applicant will be notified by the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation on May 15. The Foundation will mail the full amount of the award in August. It is applied to the entire academic year. The check is payable jointly to the recipient and the college, but is mailed directly to the recipient. Any student who withdraws from school for any reason will be expected to notify the foundation of his/her status and refund any unused, refundable portion of the scholarship. The applicant must demonstrate financial need for this scholarship. In addition to other requirements, the applicant must also demonstrate good moral character.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, renewable for up to three years if the student continues to meet the eligibility requirements and maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The student must re-apply to be considered for renewability.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,900.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as previous years. Please check back in November when applications are expected to become available.Applications are available online on The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation Website (TGKVF).*Please note: Applications are only accepted through online submission. The entire application does not have to be completed at one time. Students will create a password so that they may return to complete the application at a later time.In addition to the application form, the student must submit his/her most recent federal income tax return and grade transcript online. These documents must be scanned and then attached to the application. Students may apply for up to two Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation scholarships using one application.The application and additional documents must be received by the deadline date.
