Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be awarded each year the program is offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student no later than the deadline date.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: The Mental Health System Reform Scholarship is available for undergraduate and graduate students who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the Mental Health System Reform Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The Mental Health System Reform Scholarship is provided annually by Attorney Dayne Phillips for the purpose of encouraging students to think about the mental health systems currently operating in the United States. Whether the student has been personally affected or knows someone who has, Dayne Phillips hopes that this scholarship will increase awareness and spark further discussions about how we can make improvements. One winner will be selected based primarily on the strength of essay submissions and he or she will be notified shortly after the deadline.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Application instructions and additional information about the Mental Health System Reform Scholarship can be found online using the provided links. To apply for this award, students must first write an original essay of approximately 750 words in length. Essays must discuss the student's opinions on the mental health systems available in the United States, whether they are in need of reform, and what steps should be taken to achieve this reform. In addition to the essay, students must also submit transcripts from their current educational institution as well as a recent resume that details their employment and extracurricular experiences. All applications must be submitted to the provided email address, and all application documents must be saved as email attachments.
