Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must attend or plan to attend Michigan State University.
  3. Must demonstrate academic achievement and involvement with, or contributions to, the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  5. Must be an incoming freshman or transfer student or a current undergraduate student. Preference is given to incoming students, though all undergraduate students are encouraged to apply.

Additional Information: The Pride Scholarship was founded in 2000 by Bill Beachler, MSU Alumnus, and GLFSA, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Faculty Staff and Graduate Student Association of Michigan State University. Candidates should demonstrate academic achievement and involvement with, or contributions to, the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community.

Award Amount: $3,000 to $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back later in February for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online on the Michigan State University (MSU) Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, and Transgender (LBGT) Resource Center website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a resume that includes co-curricular involvement and activities, including any involvement outside of school that demonstrates his/her commitment to the LBGT community (in Word or PDF); and a 500- to 1,000-word personal statement that explains why he/she is seeking this scholarship and his/her relevant experience in light of the description of the scholarship (in Word or PDF). The student may mention, but need not prove, financial need. Applications may be emailed or mailed to the LBGT Resource Center using the contact information provided. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
