Park Scholars are selected on the basis of academic merit, exemplary character, exceptional potential for leadership, and the sense of promise that they may one day make contributions of enduring importance to the betterment of the human condition. Financial need is not a consideration. After review of applications, between 200-225 candidates will be invited for semi-finalist interviews. All North Carolina residents must have in-person interviews; candidates in selected regions will also have in-person interviews. All other interviews will be by phone. Interviews will take place between Jan. 7-8. Finalists will be invited to on-campus selection activites. Students will participate in a group discussion activity and an interview; the Park Scholars are selected based on their performance in these two activities. Park Scholars will be notified on March 6 of their status.
