Maine Morgan Horse Club

Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two $1000 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a member in good standing of the Maine Morgan Horse Club, Inc. NOTE: State residency in Maine is not a requirement for this award.
  3. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed or are currently involved in the AMHA Horsemastership program, OR in a 4-H or FFA program.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  5. Must be 22 years of age or younger at time of application.
  6. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at time of application. Students enrolled in or that have graduated from a GED program are also eligible to apply.

Description: This award is available to members of the Maine Morgan Horse club who are 22 years of age or younger at the time of application.

Additional Information: Previous winners of this scholarship are ineligible to participate a second time; however, previous applicants who did not win an award may reapply. Selection will be based on the applicant's ability and aptitude for serious study, community service, leadership, financial need, and achievement with horses. The following criteria will also be taken into consideration: the applicant's involvement in the AMHA Horsemastership program or the 4H/FFA program. Upon receipt of the award, a written request from the student must be made for payment to the designated school.

Award Amount: $1000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications may be obtained by sending an email or a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the attention of Judith Chamberlain at the address provided. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: three letters of recommendation addressing the applicant's character, abilities and achievements written by a teacher and/or counselor; a copy of his/her transcript; and a recent 5" X 7" photography appropriate for publicity purposes. All applications and supporting materials must be submitted by the deadline date and sent to the address provided.
