Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must attend or plan to attend the University of Oklahoma (Norman campus, Tulsa campus, or Health Sciences Center).
  3. Preference is given to students from middle-income families whose annual income is $30,000 to $75,000.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award. Please note: Although high school seniors are welcome to apply, preference is given to those applicants who are currently enrolled at the University of Oklahoma.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  6. Must have an ACT score of 25 or higher.

Description: This award is for students planning to attend the University of Oklahoma at its Norman campus, Tulsa campus, or Health Sciences Center. Preference is given to students whose household income is between $30,000 and $75,000.

Additional Information: The Sooner Heritage Scholarship was established by OU President David Boren. It receives support from the OU Foundation, the President's Associates, the President's Partners and individual OU donors. Selection for the award is based on a combination of financial need, academic performance, and community leadership and service. Other factors such as awards, activities, and honors may be taken into consideration during the selection process.

Award Amount: $2000 for four years  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,000.

Students must apply online on the University of Oklahoma website for this scholarship. The student is required to log in with his/her OUNet ID and password to complete the application. Applications are due by Feb. 1 for priority consideration and processing. Students must also have their completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on file with the Office of Financial Aid Services by the deadline date. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. *Please note: The requirement for the FAFSA is waived for international students.
