In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must attend Poughkeepsie High School in Poughkeepsie, New York.
  4. Must plan to enroll full time at an accredited college or university in the United States.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Description: This award is available to current seniors at Poughkeepsie High School who are planning to enroll full time in an undergraduate program after graduation.

Additional Information: Established by the Poughkeepsie High School Class of 1958, this scholarship is awarded each year to graduating high school seniors of Poughkeepsie High School.  The scholarship is not necessarily intended for those with the highest academic achievement, but rather, it is intended for those who must apply themselves to prosper.  The scholarship will be awarded to an individual who will be full-time student at an accredited college or university in the United States.  It may be used for tuition, books, and fees.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
