Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually, depending on the number of qualified applicants and funding available.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be self-identified as or be the child of a gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered person.
  3. Must be a resident of the Portland, Oregon Quad-County area (Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington or Columbia counties) or Clark County, Washington for a minimum of one year prior to submitting an application.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must be accepted for enrollment or be currently enrolled in an accredited educational program beyond the secondary level in one or more of the following areas: college/university, trade/vocational, or the arts.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Students must self-identify as or be the child of a gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered person.

Application requirements for the Pride of the Rose Scholarship are:

  • Interview
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
Additional Information: Applicants must be in demonstrated need of financial assistance to attain their educational goals. A scholarship committee composed of task force members designated by the Equity Foundation will review the application of each candidate. If the committee deems necessary, personal interviews may be arranged. The recipients of the Pride of the Rose Scholarship will be chosen on the completion of the scholarship application (and interviews if deemed necessary) which demonstrate the applicant's apparent financial need; ability to meet eligibility guidelines; and clarity of educational objectives. The Pride of the Rose Scholarship will be awarded to the recipient(s) in the month of September, at an annual benefit for the fund.

Award Amount: The monetary award amount varies annually and is dependent on the availability of funds. In the past, the foundation has awarded a $3,000 non-renewable scholarship.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.
