Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Missouri.
  3. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  4. Must attend a public college or university in Missouri.
  5. Must demonstrate a history of community service and leadership.

Description: The Purdy Emerging Leaders Scholarship is available for undergraduate students in Missouri who are attending a public college or university. Applicants must demonstrate unmet financial need as well as a record of community service leadership.

Additional Information: The Purdy Emerging Leaders Scholarship was founded in honor of Allan Walker Purdy. The award is provided by the Missouri Scholarship & Loan Foundation and seeks to assist in the unmet financial need of a Missouri student who demonstrates active involvement and leadership in community or campus organizations. Academic achievements, unmet financial need, and community service or leadership experiences will all be considered as factors during scholarship selection. Scholarship Central is made possible by a joint commitment between St. Louis Graduates and the St. Louis Community Foundation, as well as a variety of private and public sponsors. All funds provided by St. Louis Community Foundation do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, national origin, gender, age, color, sexual orientation, veteran status, physical or mental disability.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Online applications and additional details about this award are available online at the Scholarship Central website. To be considered for this award, students must register an online account with the Scholarship Central scholarship application system. In addition to the online application form, applicants for the Purdy Emerging Leaders Scholarship must submit: responses to the supplemental questions; high school and/or college transcripts; proof of financial need; one letter of recommendation; an essay describing the applicant's community service, campus activities, and/or other similar experiences; and an optional personal statement that describes any unusual circumstances the applicant may be facing. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted through the online system no later than the deadline date.
