In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Blount County, TN.
  2. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must plan to enroll on a full time basis.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students who have a permanent residence in Blount County, TN. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and plan to enroll full time at an accredited, non-profit vocational school, college, or university.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established in 1998 by a bequest made by Dr. Sam Mount to the Junior Service League of Maryville in remembrance of his wife, Louise Mount. Preference will be given to applicants planning to attend school in Tennessee and work in the East Tennessee area following graduation. Factors to be considered by the selection committee will be: financial need; general aptitude for advanced educational work; evidence of participation in and service to the community; and the maturity and professionalism of the student, in that order of importance. The selection committee reserves the right to conduct brief interviews with finalists.

Award Amount: $1,200 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,200.
