Number of Awards & Eligibility: Eight awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll full time.
  3. Must have an interest in ROVs or underwater work which furthers the use of ROVs.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.
  5. Undergradute and graduate students must be a Marine Technology Society member. High school seniors do not have to be a MTS member.

Description: This scholarship is available for undergraduate and graduate students who are both members and non-members of the Marine Technology Society. Students must have an interest in ROVs or underwater work which furthers the use of ROVs.

Additional Information: The Marine Technology Society (MTS) is dedicated to supporting marine education and students. To that end, the society offers this annual scholarship for MTS and non-MTS members. Students must be enrolled in or interested in enrolling in an undergraduate or graduate program working with remotely operated vehicles (ROV's) or underwateer waork that furthers the use of ROV's.

Award Amount: $2,000 to $8,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online on the Marine Technology Society (MTS) website. The student should note that this scholarship has its own application, separate from other MTS scholarships. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a biographical sketch that discusses academic, personal and professional goals; a one-page essay about his/her interest in remote operated vehicles (ROVs) or underwater work that furthers the use of ROVs; a recommendation from a current teacher or counselor in a marine-related field; and three letters of reference from people he/she knows that are not teachers or counselors. The student must also have his/her school send an official transcript verifying grade point average and full-time status to the address listed. The application must be completed online and all supporting materials must be submitted by email to the address provided, no later than the deadline date.
