The Land Conservancy of New Jersey

Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually, one for the Russell W. Myers Scholarship and one for the Rogers Family Scholarship.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of New Jersey.
  3. Must have completed at least 15 credit hours at a college or university and be in good standing.
  4. Must be enrolled full time.
  5. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must be pursuing a recognized degree in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation, horticulture, park administration, or a related field. The student must also be considering a career in New Jersey in one of these environmentally-related fields.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.

Description: This scholarship is available for New Jersey undergraduate and graduate students who plan careers in New Jersey in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation, horticulture, park administration, or a related field. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must enroll full time.

Additional Information: The Russell W. Myers Scholarship Fund was established in 1983 to honor Mr. Myers, the founder of The Land Conservancy of New Jersey. The Rogers Family Scholarship was established in 2005 by Gray and Mollie Rogers, dedicated conservationists who wanted to expand The Land Conservancy's educational support for outstanding environmentally-oriented students. If selected as a finalist, the applicant will be asked to attend an interview in early June in Montville, NJ. The Land Conservancy of New Jersey Trustees and their family members are ineligible. Employees and interns who have worked for The Land Conservancy of New Jersey within 12 months prior to the application deadline and their family members are also ineligible.

Award Amount: $7,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,500.

Applications are available online on The Land Conservancy of New Jersey (TLC-NJ) website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following supporting documents: a resume or separate sheet summarizing his/her work, intern, and/or volunteer experiences; a typewritten, double-spaced essay of 500 words or less addressing the topic listed on the application; a certified transcript; and two letters of recommendation, one from a community or business reference and one from an academic reference. Application packets should be mailed to the address provided, and must be postmarked by the deadline date.
