Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must intend to enroll in a two- or four-year engineering or science program at an ABET-accredited college or university. A list of accredited programs is available online at main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be a graduating high school senior at time of application.
  6. Must be the child or grandchild of a current SAE Detroit Section member.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: A U.S. student who is a high school senior planning to enroll at a two- or four-year engineering or science program at an ABET-accredited institution, and is the child or grandchild of a current SAE Detroit Section member, is eligible for this award. An eligible applicant must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrated financial need.

Application requirements for the SAE Detroit Section Technical Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • FAFSA
  • SAT/ACT scores
  • Essay
Additional Information: Applicants must demonstrate financial need. All students will be notified by the end of June. Recipient names will be listed on the SAE website by the end of July.

Award Amount: • Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded each year (up to four years) for a total of $20,000 • Scholarship may be renewed at $5,000 per year for up to three additional years (total award $20,000)  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.
