Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a student who has attended at least four of the six secondary grade school years at a Santa Barbara County school and has graduated, or will graduate, from a Santa Barbara County high school to apply for this undergraduate award.
  4. Must enroll full time.
  5. Must be a legal resident of Santa Barbara county, California.

Description: This award is for U.S. undergraduate students who are legal residents of Santa Barbara County, California. Students must graduate from a Santa Barbara County high school and plan to attend a two- or four year school full time.

Additional Information: For over 43 years, the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara has helped local students pay for their higher education, be it a vocational, community college, or four year college or graduate school. Through the granting of scholarships, the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara inspires, encourages, and supports Santa Barbara County students in their pursuit of college, graduate, and vocational education. The foundation does not offer student aid for weekend programs, summer sessions, research, special projects, part-time studies, correspondence, or off-site studies. All eligible and qualified new applicants are required to have a personal interview in the month of March following the January application deadline. The primary criteria for award selection are financial need, potential, and motivation.

Award Amount: Award amount varies annually according to the amount of funds available to the provider. This award is non-renewable. Students may reapply for additional funding, up to a total of four years by maintaining a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and full-time status (12 or more credit hours per semester).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online on the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara website, at the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara office, at high school counselor's offices in Santa Barbara County. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit any high school and/or college academic transcripts, two letters of recommendation as specified on the application and a copy of his/her most recent federal tax return statement. The application must be submitted online on the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara website or accompanying the supporting materials to the address provided, and be received by the deadline. Students must also file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit the resulting Student Aid Report (SAR) to the foundation prior to March 2.
