  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled in an eligible four-year degree program. Preference will be given to students with junior or senior standing.
  3. Must major in surveying.
  4. Must enroll full time.

Application requirements for the Schonstedt Scholarship in Surveying are:

Additional Information: The Schonstedt Instrument Company in Kearneysville, West Virginia, funds this scholarship each year. Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria: academic record, 30 percent; applicant's statement, 30 percent; letters of recommendation, 20 percent; professional activities, 20 percent. Degree of financial need will be used, if necessary, to break ties, after the primary criteria have been considered.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available on the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must submit the following materials: a brief, yet complete, statement indicating educational objectives, future plans of study or research, professional activities, and financial need; three or more letters of recommendation (at least two from faculty members familiar with his/her work); a complete, original, official transcript through the end of the school year prior to when the award will be presented; and a copy of his/her unofficial transcript for the fall semester (as soon as it is available). Please note: The applicant must be a student member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) to qualify for this award. The applicant may apply for membership in NSPS at the time of application. The applicant should mail all materials in one envelope. Applications sent by fax or email will not be accepted. Incomplete or improperly completed applications will be discarded. Applications must arrive at NSPS headquarters no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on the deadline date. Late applications will not be accepted.
