Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually. One award will be offered to a student attending a four-year institution, and one award will be offered to a student attending a two-year institution.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  4. Must have a grade point average between 2.0 and 3.25.
  5. Must graduate from Gateway High School in Aurora, Colorado.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Graduating high school seniors who attend Gateway High School in Aurora, Colorado and have a grade point average of 2.0-3.25 are eligible for this award.

Application requirements for the T. Matt Hirschfeld Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Matt attended Gateway High School from 1992-1994. A charming young man, Matt participated in sports and school activities, including skiing, and fishing. He especially loved biking and soccer. Matt had a dimpled smile and was always willing to help friends and family

Award Amount: $500 annually, renewable for up to three years. If a recipient attends a two-year institution and transfers to a four-year institution, he/she can apply for an additional $1,000 award.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in November for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online from the Aurora Public Schools Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit transcripts, two letters of recommendation (one NOT from a teacher), and responses to the four questions listed on the application. Applications must be submitted by the deadline.
