Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of scholarships varies annually. In past years, approximately 11 awards were provided.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a resident of Colorado.
  2. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must attend a college or university in Colorado.
  4. Must demonstrate service and advocacy for the LGBT community.
  5. Must identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for Colorado LGBT students who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at a college or university in Colorado.

  • Personal statement
  • Recommendation letter
Additional Information: Selection for awards are based on merit, need, and service to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community. The scholarship applicant’s contact information will be shared within the Foundation and applicants may be contacted about foundation activities. Contact information will not be shared externally.

Award Amount: $300 to $3,000 annually, non-renewable. Previous recipients are eligible to reapply, up to a maximum potential assistance of $9,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,650.

Applications and information about this award are available online at The Alexander Foundation website using the link provided. To apply for this scholarship, students must submit the following items: a completed application form; a personal statement of 500 words or less describing his/her academic and career goals, as well as specific reasons for financial need; and two original, signed letters of reccommendation. At least one letter of recommendation must come from a teacher or instructor, and must be printed on school letterhead. All applications and supporting materials must be received by the deadline date.
