In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must attend Yale.
  2. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. Must be of Asian heritage (at least 50%).
  5. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This fellowship is available for Asian American students at Yale who commit to performing community service through an internship project.

Application requirements for the Tina E. Yeh Community Service Fellowship are:

  • Application form

  • Letter of Sponsorship
Additional Information: The Tina E. Yeh Community Service Fellowship is provided for Asian American students at Yale who commit to an internship with a charitable organization that is dedicated to the interests and needs of Asian communities in America. Selection will be based on the applicants' academic records, community service history, and financial need.

Award Amount: $3,000 will be paid directly to the charitable organization sponsoring the applicant. In turn, this money is intended to fund the projects the student participates in as well as a stipend for personal expenses and/or other educational costs.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available on the Asian Pacific Fund website. In addition to a completed application, the student must also submit the following: an official transcript of grades, including grading scale (online transcripts are not acceptable); a copy of an SAT score report; two letters of recommendation with at least one being from a current teacher; and a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Students must also plan to perform an internship with a host organization dedicated to charitable and community work. Applicants must obtain sponsorship from said host organization and submit a letter from a representative of the organization who can explain the focus and details of the proposed internship. The application and all supporting documents must be received or emailed no later than the deadline date.
