Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually, one per Tri-County EMC district.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must live in a household (main residence) served by Tri-County EMC.
  3. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student. Non-traditional undergraduate students are eligible to apply.
  4. Must be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited full- or part-time program.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors and undergraduate students who live in a household (main residence) served by Tri-County EMC. Applications are judged based on academic ability, financial need, and community contributions.

Application requirements for the Tri-County EMC Cooperative Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • ACT/SAT scores
  • Proof of enrollment
  • Essay
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: Funds can be used at any U.S. accredited college, university, vocational, or technical school. Applications are judged based on academic ability, financial need, and community contributions. Applications are scored by an independent panel of judges.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable. The student must use the scholarship within one year of issuance, and it must be completely used within two years of issuance date. The school shall return any unused funds to Tri-County EMC. Previous winners are not eligible for a second scholarship.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available on the Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation (Tri-County EMC) website. The student must upload the following materials to the online application: his/her most recent ACT and/or SAT scores; an acceptance letter or proof of enrollment for his/her college; an essay of 500 to 750 words referencing plans and goals while indicating a concern for community; two letters of recommendation; and his/her most recent high school or college transcript. Please note: The online application must be completed in a single session. Work cannot be saved and returned to later. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
