In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must be a full-time student.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.8 or higher.
  4. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  5. Must be a first-time applicant to the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: First-time international applicants to the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut with a grade point average of 3.8 or higher are eligible for this award. There is not a separate application for this award; All international students who meet the initial criteria for admission to the university will be automatically considered.

Application requirements for the University of Bridgeport Presidential Scholarship for International Students are:

Additional Information: Applicants must demonstrate outstanding scholastic achievement, leadership qualities and community involvement. Recipients are required to live in a university dormitory and participate in a university meal plan. Recipients will be notified by mail. Due to the large applicant pool, the university regrets that it cannot respond to the many emails, faxes, or phone calls regarding the scholarship. Scholarships are available for first-time applicants entering in the fall or spring semester who demonstrate outstanding scholastic achievement and proficiency in English. Grade point average will be used as an academic requirement for this award. The grade point average is calculated at the University of Bridgeport by converting the applicant's grades, marks, examination results, etc. to an American grading equivalent with accepted practices used by universities in the United States. Specific scholarship grade point average requirements are subject to change based on the sole discretion of the admissions committee. The admissions committee reserves the right to consider additional variables, such as a student's extra-curricular involvement, to determine whether a student meets the academic requirement.

Award Amount: $15,000 annually, renewable for three years if the student maintains satisfactory academic achievement and good standing with the university.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $60,000.

Applications for admission are available online from the University of Bridgeport website. The University is on rolling admissions admitting students throughout the year. However, students should apply no later than July 15 for the fall semester and no later than December 1 for the spring semester.
