Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually depending on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must rank in the top 40 percent of his/her graduating class.
  4. Must have an SAT score of 1100 or higher (combined math and critical reading scores).
  5. Must plan to attend the University of Maine.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. Must be a resident of LaGrange, Maine.
  8. Must demonstrate unmet financial need.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors who are residents of LaGrange, Maine and attending the University of Maine. Students must be in the top 40 percent of their class and have an SAT score of 1100 or higher or a composite ACT score of 24 or higher.

Additional Information: The University of Maine's residency scholarships are intended to attract and retain top academic achievers from diverse areas of Maine and surrounding states who seek intellectual stimulation and opportunities for personal development. This award, in honor of Lewis M. and Ethel R. Blake, is for students who reside in LaGrange, Maine.

Award Amount: $500 to $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $750.

Applications for University of Maine residency-based scholarships must be accompanied by a certification of town residency that includes a town clerk's official seal. Upon receipt of the residency certification and information release form, the University of Maine will provide additional documentation regarding financial need, academic records, etc. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but for full consideration, should be submitted by the priority deadline.
